In these days of super efficiency, support workers who can mend networks and PC's, plus give regular solutions to users, are essential in all sections of the workplace. Whereupon our society becomes more and more dependent on advanced technology, we in turn become more dependent on the skilled and qualified network engineers, who ensure the systems function properly.

The way a programme is physically sent to you isn't always given the appropriate level of importance. How many parts is the training broken down into? And in what sequence and do you have a say in when you'll get each part? Many think it logical (when study may take one to three years for a full commercial certification,) that a training provider will issue a single section at a time, as you pass each element. Although: What if you find the order pushed by the company's salespeople doesn't suit all of us. It may be difficult to get through all the elements at the speed required?

To avoid any potential future issues, most students now choose to have all their training materials (which they've now paid for) posted to them in one go, with nothing held back. It's then your own choice in what order and how fast or slow you want to work.

Don't get hung-up, as can often be the case, on the training course itself. Your training isn't about getting a plaque on your wall; you should be geared towards the actual job at the end of it. Focus on the end-goal. Never let yourself become one of the unfortunate masses who choose a training program that on the surface appears interesting - only to end up with a qualification for a career they'll never really get any satisfaction from.

You also need to know your feelings on earning potential and career progression, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. It makes sense to understand what (if any) sacrifices you'll need to make for a particular role, what certifications are needed and where you'll pick-up experience from.
